Roads not working on Garmin Connect and on Garmin Edge 1040

When I try to build a route on Garmin Connect with Open Street Maps when I try to draw it in this N634 road the system don't let me do it. When I ride my bike on this road the behavior on Climb pro and Navigation in general are a disaster. I think this is a problem is some road nearby my home. I attach an image where you can look that in this rute, if I try to follow the route on the N634 the system does not work. It seems to do the same riding in this road. A problem with OSM maps?

This is what Garmin advice me to go. Garmin trying to avoid N611 and N634 without apparent reason

On this road and others where this problem appears Climb Pro without preloaded route works badly or does not work

  • But, where can i change it. Can i reclasify thr road?, where?. On OSM maps, on garl, min maps  on the Edge10400. What i want is climb pro without rouge preload working.

David the topic seems to be solved for you because you marked your answer as "suggest answer" (green frame).

    .
If not: You have to create a free account at openstreetmap.org and this gives you permission to change the attributes of paths. There is the option of having your entries checked by an experienced OSM-mapper (my recommendation).
OSM also has a very extensive wiki that can answer any questions you may have.

    Have fun.

Btw: You can also create new paths in OSM yourself

  • Oh, im sorry. Thanks for all your answer. im going to manage to make this. So, i download osm maps to my Edge and work with this. OK?

  • The maps your device has are already OSM maps.

peggastch is suggesting you update the primary source for the OSM maps. Those changes would, after a while, end up on your device.

I was considering making the changes but it would require a fair amount of work (there are a lot of N routes in Spain).

  • Yes, this is what i am doing. I have changed the OSM map but this will be fixed in the future. It took me several hours change the bicycle type of road in osm maps. The bad thing is that i must wait for half and year to have this changes in the garmin edge. What i understood to peggatsch was that i can download the actually osm maps to my Edge and climb pro and all thing will work fine. But i think this is not possible because climb pros are in the garmin maps, not in the OSM maps

You say after a while, a while of one year? 6 months? what time? more or less

  • Yes, you could download OSM maps from another source.

Be sure to pick a “Latin” version (Unicode won’t work).

Also, be sure to disable the other map!

For climb pro, Garmin uses elevation data from the course or a separate DEM map.

Other sites might update every two weeks or so. Garmin updates every 6 months.

The following is one source for maps. One reason I like it is because you can download custom regions.

    https://garmin.bbbike.org/

  • Oh many thanks. I am going to make this. Thanks again

  • But i think this is not possible because climb pros are in the garmin maps

No David ClimbPro works safely with third-party maps - believe me, I use it like that all the time

  • Without preloaded route also works?. I'm going to try so.

  • Yes, sure David, I primarily freeride and it works perfectly

  • Thanks again. This is perfect for me
