Workout page and data field blocked

Why in the workout page in 3 data field present only 2 are modificable? I don't want to see lap distance and but i want to see other informations.

  • The lap distance is not a data filed, but a placeholder for possible secondary workout target. Almost everyone is complaining about this choice, but I actually think it's not that bad for outdoor workouts. On the other hand, maybe cadence would make more sense, as secondary targets are often about cadence?

In any case, the common workaround is to build your own data screen with workout fields you need, it can look almost identical to the workout screen.

  • The workout page is just a mess and the one thing that make me miss my wahoo elemnt

My guess is that secondary target is not that common and that is why so many complaints.  And why the placeholder is lap distance is just one big mystery. Perhaps a metric more applicable for runners but useless for cyclists.

To make your own data screen is a solution but me one big question stands out for me... Do garmin really know their buyers..

There is a lot of feelings involved in cycling, we buy bikes, clothes and equipment, to fit our dreams, wether it is racing, climbing or the weekend testosterone race with friends or local bike club.

And we buy the garmin computer to record and execute training. But I miss the same passion from Garmin, where is the drive to make the bedst device, that just suites me when training, the drive to make the perfect device.

When I look at the garmin 1040 and the release history I cannot see that passion or drive.. Do garmin really known me, I cyclist.. They just feels numb

  • I had great success making my own workout page. You can do a much better job than Garmin. In fact I even went so far as to make a Workout Activity Page. BTW you can switch between Activity Profiles mid ride.

  • Yes you can.. I done this also.. but it cannot make up for the cumbersome usability and annoyens of missing even simple data fields.

Like target power, to get this shown ( primary power ) you get avg power, target power and a gauge showing avg power. One simple does not care about avg power when performing structured workout.
This is where garmin goes wrong, it just gimmick stuff. Just give me the target power as a number so it can be read easily in rain, darkness.. or when my brain is oxygen starved and not that god at focusing.

The auto pausing and next interval information, it is just bad..
