FTP test breaks

I did on my EDGE1040 solar FTP test twice. Every time after ca 12-14 minutes the power guide disappeared. The test itself continues but without let’s say chart. The same situation I had on my previous edge 830. Does anyone have the same situation?

  • I tried it some time ago and I think for some reason it got stopped prematurely, at least not how I wanted it to be :-) Are you effectively moved to a cooldown period without a target, or something like that?

Recently I was happily doing TrainerRoad ramp tests on my Edge 1040. It's trivial to implement it as a workout, get 1 minute power from the power curve in Garmin Connect and compute your FTP :-) The only problem is that the Edge ignores your manually set FTP for suggested workouts, but I am about to return to Tacx training plans anyway. Or maybe I'll shell out for a TrainerRoad subscription to compare?

  • Same here. I tried the FTP-Test twice and both times the automatic step Nr. 6 (after 1 warm up and 4 steps of increasing the power) crashes. The (test) activity itself continues and I could incrase the target power manually the 2 missings steps.
But the software quatily is very poor. Sorry to say...

  • Same problem here. I tried it today twice on my Edge 840. When looking at the forum, the issue appears to be present for years. Feeble of Garmin that they never commented on it or resolved the issue.

  • Does anyone know how it's actually supposed to work? That is, which protocol is the test supposed to follow?
