training load problem

I haven't used the edge 1040s for a week

I instead used my trusty edge 830 for cycling and my FR945 for running, the 2 GPS indicated an identical charge of 799 for this week and Garmin connect also indicated 799, so it was perfect, everything was synchronizing well between GC and these 2 GPS.

Today I decide to update the edge 1040s with fw 19.08b, I also do a reset of the edge 1040s.
After syncing it syncs to garmin connect and share the charge from 619 to garmin connect, which is wrong because I didn't use the edge 1040s for a week.

Conclusion, the edge 1040s lowered the load on Garmin Connect, and the watch remained at 799, which is fair for the latter.

Conclusion edge 1040s does not take into account after synchronization my other equipment with which I trained, worse it destroys the training load carried out over the week because it seems to have priority over the others.

Garmin you are exhausting!!!!!!!!

I spent an incredible fortune on your GPS and here we reach the bottom of despair for those who need to train properly.

Will this 1040s work one day before its warranty ends????

  • I know how you feel. I also hate when my plans and efforts are derailed because of some bug or stupidity where it feels it should be simple and avoidable. Since all those devices sync to Garmin Connect anyway, it's beyond me why the training load is not simply determined from the list of Garmin Connect activities (deduping activities happening at the same time, of course) and shared to all devices (overriding the load until the moment of sync, devices should add the load from activities which were not synced yet). Then you wouldn't have the problem you are describing and I wouldn't have the load messed up when my Edge 1040 uploaded an activity to Garmin Connect, but crashed parsing it and failed updating the load.

Having said that, I don't fully understand your description of the problem. Did you reset your device wiping all the data? If so, how could it possibly set the Garmin Connect load to any non-zero value? After the crash of my Edge 1040 clearly messed up the load for the day, but it seemed to me that the workout might have been included in the next days somehow. Make sure you sync your non-training devices, then your training device (I guess your Edge?) and then again non-training devices - to let each device have full information. Maybe also watch it over some time to see how Garmin Connect updates the training load?

  • Yes, I reset the edge 1040 settings without deleting the data. What I don't understand, before it worked well, and I also remember very well that the daily training suggestion proposed by the FR945 or the edge 1040s was identical, now this is no longer the case and it's linked to this load which is poorly synchronized between my different Garmin equipment. Oddly enough my runs carried out with the FR945 are clearly visible in the edge 1040s history so it synchronizes the other activities well, it's just the charging which has a bug, subject to other bugs which I don't have again observed So once again poorly completed functions therefore unusable paid at a high price! The ride group function seems to be a priority for Garmin but makes no sense when you see that the rest does not work correctly
