Edge 1040 VO2 max not updating

Hello,

since one month I have been using the Edge 1040 and I noticed my VO2 max values are still the same as the first day I started using the device (coming from the Edge 830). The value did drop with 4 and remained there.

I am always cycling with a chest HR and powermeter, both indoor and outdoor. Reading in other topics I could find something about Physio TrueUp but I cannot find this option on the Edge 1040 (only on my VivoActive watch).

Is something misconfigured or should I have more patience and wait for the VO2 max values to change ? (on the 830 they changed multiple times per month depending on the rides).

Edge 1040 is fully up-to-date.

My 1040 have the same behavviour. All my past Edges units changed the vo2 max much more often than the 1040. This is ridicolous months with the same value.

Same here. No change since months. Had many changes as I tracked with my fr945 before.

I did a search on all the garmin forums and we have this problem on both watches and edge (all). In my case the vo2max has been stuck at the same value for a few months, the training status shows me the "productive" arrow at the top but the value does not change!

Same here, previously with the 830 my VO2max fluctuated according to my training cycle and since the 1040 (4 month) it is flat. I had sent tons of data files to Garmin Support and the answer was that the recording is correct and my VO2max varies very little by 0.4 points and that the algorithm is different on the 1040. I guess they are not cyclists not to understand the nature of VO2max.

1040/840/540 vo2max calculation is different to old 1030/830/530, same as on Epix2 and so on, so i export all my rides and runs to intervals.icu where i can see my vo2max of every fit file, it is changing always a little bit but not that great changes like on the older hardware

Are you sure ?
I remember that Garmin used the firstbeat calculation which they later bought. Why would he use another algorithm?! Can you provide further links?

so 48,80 til 49, 30 or so, really very small, think there was an article by 5krunner, but can't find it at the moment

The beta build 19.x has updated the VO2 Max chart so you can see the small changes in VO2. The value in most locations in UI is reported as an integer so you do not see the small changes. Hence the impression that it is not changing.

You do see those small changes in the chart.

That's like mine, too. 59-59.4. Whether Garmin or any other brand, I find such a small variation over almost 5 month with a final season and rest period a bit strange. Especially that it is not coming down. I've 1 more month off season and see how it will develop.
