(Fixed in 19.08 beta) Indoor Follow Course STILL broken in 18.25 , no Elevation or Climbpro profiles

Version 18.23 broke the Indoor follow a course with a smart trainer. The Elevation Screen & ClimbPro screens appear but without any elevation profile. Especially annoying as the change log did not mention any change related to Indoor cycling and further annoying as the subsequent 18.25 has NOT fixed this.

The Course summary screen shows the profile but when you select ride the Elevation screen has no profile on it and neither does the ClimbPro screen.

(Before pressing "Ride")

(Elevation Screen and ClimbPro screen after selecting "Ride")

(As you start pedalling the Elevation Screen changes to the version you get when NOT following a course, ie 100% history and no upcoming profile, but the correct historical profile is shown, you are at the far right margin)

(Completion of Climbs is notified but climb profile had never been shown)

AND two other odd but unconnected things

A new screen (not one of the ones I have setup) appears and I get notifications of a change in my Altitude Acclimation even though the ride was entirely virtual and never when higher than a virtual 200m?

I do a lot of course following on the trainer and these BUGs make that fairly pointless. I understand Garmin are very embarrassed and sorry over this, if they can't fix it soon I will accept a refund on my TOO expensive Tacx Flux S or if they think it will be fixed soon I will accept a free Premium Tacx subcription so I can continue following courses via their App.

Let me know, thanks.

  • Nice attempt at negotiation

Never used this but it sounds interesting (if and when it works again) - does it change the trainer resistance to reflect the gradient?

Yes and it (surprisingly) worked quite well and is / was a good workout and not too boring. It though does need the elavation profile as a visual cue as to what is happening and going to happen. Only downside is that downhill (negative grade) can't be simulated on cheaper smart trainers so downhill is same as flat, no gravity assist. Couple of years ago during a COVID lockdown I followed the entire Paris-Breat-Paris 1220km event (but over about 4 weeks rather than the 4 days)
