1040 keeps adding routes to library.

My Garmin is continually adding routes to the library from Garmin Connect, is there a way to stop this. I have been through and deleted all routes from 1040 but they keep reappearing. Is there a way to bulk delete from Garmin connect.

  • Hi  are they routes that originate from someone else's account? Then you should cancel the connection to the Garmin Connect account or adjust it accordingly

    Example:

  • They are al routes that eminate from my account but every time I switch the Garmin on it uploads the same routes again, as in I now have the same routes six times.

  • I cannot see any settings that are any different from my 1030 which works fine.

  • Have you tried to unlink and re-link the account

You’re right, there are basically no settings on the device to control this.

  • I experienced this same thing with routes that I had added to my Komoot account. I deleted Komoot from the Edge and then was able to finally break this cycle of having the same route three or four times. I could not find a way to bulk delete. It would have been nice because there were 101 routes, times three. So it was a bit of time spent mousing around and clicking.

  • That's it, Komoot is the problem, deleted it from my 1040 and the problem has not recurred, but I have also now deleted all the routes now on Garmin Connect. I don't know why these mapping programmes don't have a bulk delete option, it must be an easy add. Thanks Flushed

  • Thanks! I had the same problem with routes reappearing and duplicate routes.

I have not tried it recently, but bulk deleting routes should be possible by connecting the Garmin to a computer via USB and deleting the files in the courses folder.

  • I've just had this problem, not with Komoot, but with Strava. I've just been invited to a ride posted in a Strava club I'm a member of, which "stars" the route, which in turn triggers the sync in Garmin Connect, and it appears on the Edge as a new course. It's simple enough to delete by swiping left in the course list to reveal the bin icon and pressing to remove.
