When it is good it must be said too (chevrons, ghost track)

When it is good it must be said too.

Did a ride today of 170 km on FW 18.23

Loaded a track with the start a bit further and the track was visible and with chevrons.

Pressed ride and I went off.
When I came on the track the unit said track found and I continued.
Chevrons stayed visible.
Due to roadworks I had to leave the track and a bit further I was back on the track.

The unit again said track found and I continued and the chevrons stayed.

So the whole route I went three times off track and back on track, no problem.
And no gost route

  • Well said. I also did my first route today on 18.23 and went off route a few times. I thought it held up very well and sorted itself out when I rejoined. No others issues either, but then I’ve not seen any real problems for the last few releases. A couple of errors like battery time but they really haven’t actually affected rides.

  • Indeed, over in the beta section there were some brickbats when the first two beta versions 18.15 & 18.17 (with the claimed “fix”) made no difference at all, in fact made ghosts the norm where previously they were more random, and bouquets when the later ones did mostly fix the ghosts etc but our testing still has a few question marks.

Were your rides with Turn Guidance enabled or disabled?

While you mention seeing the “Course Found” did you see the Off Course message? In our testing, if we had Turn Guidance Off we did not see Off Course messages even though this setting was enabled. Same for Guidance on but not 100% certain in this case more evidence needed.

One beta tester had one instance of losing the chevrons. With Turn Guidance off, stopping a first course and starting a second which did not have chevrons, but only once.

So improvement, good but still doubts and more testing needed.

  • Turn Guide = off
When off track, no "Off Course" message. But If that is an option, I'm sure I turned it off the first moment I got the gps at the initial setup.
I also did not remove the track out the cache
I have about 10 tracks installed, on my ride I passed multiple roads I already passed during previous rides.

  • Yes, I didn't have my gps at hand to be sure it is an option  Slight smile .
(That is one option I turn off at the first startup of a new gps).
