New Edge 1040 Series Version 18.23 Now Available

Firmware version 18.23 for the Edge 1040 Series is now available. This update can be downloaded through Garmin Express or Garmin Connect Mobile when available.

Changes made from version 17.29 to 18.23:

  • Added the GroupRide feature to allow you to chat and share a course and live location with your group.
    • Create a GroupRide by selecting the GroupRide widget on the home screen or by using the Safety and Tracking menu.
    • Customize the ride name, date and start time, and add a course if desired. These details will automatically download to other user's Edges when they join.
    • Share the GroupRide with others using the Garmin Connect Mobile app.
    • Join a GroupRide by accepting the request sent from someone in the group or entering the code manually using the GroupRide glance on the home screen of the Edge.
  • ClimbPro
    • Restored simple tone for climb complete.
    • Persisted ClimbPro map zoom levels when auto zoom is off.
    • Fixed navigation to climb when user rides off climb.
    • Improved climb and segment interaction.
  • Fixed regression in battery life estimate in the Battery Saver menu.
  • Fixed zoom buttons overlapping elevation plot on map page.
  • Added button support to solar graph page axis allowing user to switch between the full activity view and the past 100 seconds view by pressing and holding the enter key.
  • Fixed viewing details for long notifications with buttons.
  • Fixed crash when searching for location in Japanese.
  • Fixed a positioning bug in poor weather conditions.
  • Fixed a "ghost" course issue where a deleted course could be activated instead of a newly added course.
  • Added navigation shortcut in map banner.
  • Made auto-pause overlay less persistent.
  • Fixed straight line navigation.
  • Added additional map data screen layouts, allowing for up to four data screens when the elevation profile is hidden.
  • Fixed starting a future Daily Suggested Workout.
  • Enabled alphanumeric postal code when using the search feature.
  • Fixed PCO icons on the wrong side for right pedal.
  • Fixed other minor issues and improved device stability.
