when cycling any route it keeps recalculating

I have a peculiar problem

When I cycle new or old routes my E1040 keeps recalculating the course all the time.

I am not deviating from the course whatsoever, but it keeps popping up

1. off track

2. recalculate

3. found track

4. recalculating

and this despite I have set it to never recalculate in the menu

In this video I am standing still but the effect is that I cannot see speed or anything in any screens since it is moving over to this. It also keep saying I am off track even if I am always on track

I have tried to reinstall the maps with the same error appearing also after it is reinstalled

  • Not sure, but you might look a setting "follow road" (or something like that).

  • I have added follow road.

The strange thing is that I have also marked no recalculation but it is recalculating all the time.

  • You have Course recalculation enabled.

  • True but

    1. as you can see below there is no option of turning it off

    2. it should not recalculate and tell you you are off track when you are on the track. It is doing this continuously without any interruption. It started doing this 2-3 weeks ago. Before it was when I really was off track and not like now when  I am on track all the time.

  • I also would like an OFF for Course Recalculation but the best option offered is only Auto Pause, noting that this means pause the navigation not the activity. I generally can see on the map how to get back to the course and it should then continue navigation from there. But more generally there is a lot wrong with 1040 navigation, worse than previous devices IMO.

Another option you might try is a factory reset. With your profiles synced to your phone they are mostly fully restored after the reset and it clears up issues related to sloppy programming, memory leaks, etc which cause issues like you describe.

ps, lock on road is (again IMO) a pointless option , better Off and nothing to do with your issues, can cause more issues of its own.

  • I got this issue yesterday as well.
I was on the planned route and the unit was just going from "off track, recalculating, found track, off track, ..." and then again and again.

I had to stop on the side, stop the ride, shutdown the 1040, restart it, load the course and it started to work normally after that.

It's not an issue of the settings we have, it's a annoying bug!
