Can I move the default cursor location to the middle of the map?

When I'm mountain biking, the cursor stays about a third of the way up from the bottom of the screen. If I jump, the jump data covers the cursor for an amount of time that seems extremely long on the trail. Is there a way to keep the cursor positioned higher so it's not obscured by the jump popup?

  • You cannot move the the rider position within the map, but you could move the map up by adding data fields below it. This reduces the total map area, but would move the position higher. The 18.21 beta release now allows you to add up to 4 data data fields below the map.

  • Or if you use “north up” it places the cursor in the middle of the screen, but might not be great for trails?

  • “North up” is kind of bad generally (sorry!).

It’s really not great for anything.

It’s just what (some) people are used to. It’s actually arbitrary.

  • True, I don’t use north up but conversely to the OP I would like the cursor a bit lower as I want to maximise the distance visible ahead on the course, I am not so interested in where I have been, would be really nice to have course point info in the guide text area, like they did with my old, much loved 520, I don’t use turn guidance as it is not reliable and it generates far too many notifications, eg 2 for every mini round about even where there is no turn but just continue straight ahead.

  • Giving more look-ahead is exactly why it’s lower.

The OP might prefer that too. He just has another problem (with a feature not everybody uses).
