di2 on the 105 shifters doesn't have hood buttons.

Hey Rob,
I have a di2 105 12sp shifter as well. I know it does not have hood buttons, however if you use fully sync mode, you can set the shift to the right side only and left buttons would be free.
Does it allow the left button to be set as d-fly?
Haven't tried it yet, but it is an idea.
I used to configure the old Ultegra this way, left shifter was for Garmin 1000 control. It used to confuse my LBS when I had the bike services, they'd call me to say that shifter is broken! Use e-Tube to configure the shifter, there is a dropdown list of the functions that are assigned to each switch. Use this to assign the d-fly channels. [EDIT] If you can add remote shifters on the 105 shifters, it might be possible to control the Garmin and keep the original shifter functions. , The d-fly channels can be configured for multiple functions on a switch (double press, or press and hold).
Hey everyone,
I tested it on my Shimano Di2 105 and it seems to work fine, even without the hood buttons.
So, here's what I did: I set up the Di2 in synchronized mode, where when I shift the rear derailleur, the front one automatically adjusts itself to match. I made the right shifter in control of the rear derailleur, so the left shifter didn't do anything for that anymore.
Then, using the e-tube app, I reconfigured the left shifter to act as both D-Fly ch1 and ch2. After disconnecting from the e-tube app, I turned on my Edge 1040. The Edge recognized the D-Fly channels on its own, so now I can use the left shifter to control my Edge.
I tried what Rob-UK mentioned about potentially keeping the shifter for the front derailleur control while adding other functions. Unfortunately, that didn't work out. Even though the Edge allows different functions like single press, long press, and double press, they're all for Edge control, not the derailleurs.
One thing to note is that the e-tube app only lets you pick single actions like front shift up or down, D-fly, etc. You can't assign different functions for single press, long press, or double press. And as soon as you switch to D-Fly, you lose the ability to shift gears.
