Floating blue arrow marker on map

Can anybody tell me what this extra large blue arrow is on my map display (it’s not the position marker which is lower on the screen)? It seems to float around sometimes on my position sometimes ahead, sometimes behind. Also how to turn it off as I can’t see what use it might be?

    It is the virtual partner position.  You can't disable the virtual partner much to many people's annoyance (you could in older units).

    The best way i have found to hide it is to use a route planner that lets you add an average speed for the course and set it really low so you will always be way ahead of it or save the course a GPX file and manually put it on your unit and the default speed the unit will assign to the course will be lower than what you ride at on the road most likely so you will be ahead of it.

    It’s gray (not blue).
