Edge 1040 - widgets won’t load - eg Accuweather MinuteCast

Hi, I have a Garmin Edge 1040 used for road cycling. I wanted a better weather app than the preinstalled Garmin weather. I have Garmin Connect and Garmin Connect IQ on my iPhone. I downloaded AccuWeather MinuteCast on the iPhone and transferred it via Bluetooth to the Edge 1040. On the Edge, it is only possible to find the weather information by selecting the main menu followed by Connect IQ and then selecting MinuteCast, which is way too complex whilst riding.

I wanted to have the Accuweather easily accessible when riding, ideally as a data screen or widget. Interestingly, when I go to the list of widgets, MinuteCast is not there. I’ve tried the usual, turn everything off and on routine but still can’t make any progress. I can’t believe that this is how the app is intended to work. I’m a cyclist, not a computer wizard, so am struggling to find a way to fix this. I suspect it’s a fault with the firmware not being able to do this, but accept I could be wrong or missing something obvious. I’ve emailed Garmin, but don’t expect a helpful reply.

If you do not use anything, take a look at the reviews of Accuweather, the wrong place is displayed, usually hundreds of km away, Accuweather is unfortunately scrap.

Hi, thanks for the reply. Your link shows as unavailable ? On the Accuweather that I can see, it does show my correct location. How accurate the forecast is, is too early to say. But my issue isn’t it’s accuracy, it just that widgets will not load to the edge 1040 such that you can see them as a widget. It just doesn’t work. Others have listed similar problems with accuweather and other apps, so it looks like a Garmin Edge 1040 software issue that needs a fix.

Thanks. I’ve probably mis titled the post. It’s not Accuweather that’s at issue, rather it’s the Edge 1040 software not accepting widgets.

I have already understood, I only show you that no user is right with the last version of the location. You have to add 0# to my link at the back, then the link goes.
