Impossible to update GPX or FIT file - garmin 1040 solar.

Hi all,

I'm trying to update a GPX file in my new 1040 Solar.

I plug the device into my computer Windows. Copy the file GPX to the NewFile directory and unplug the GPS Garmin 1040 .

Once restart the GPS the file does not appear on Navigation/Courses/Saved Courses. I try to find it by name and the file is not available.

I have tried to convert the file GPX into FIT. (fit-route.pyrites.org.uk/) I do the same process, but with the FIT file, I copy the file to the Courses directory.

Same result the file does not appear. I can see all files in FIT format when I plug the GPS into my computer Windows, but I cannot ride these files.

Do you have any ideas?

I have tried with 5 files. Not sure it be a file issue.

Is the GPX a course or a track?

I was able to upload it with Ridewithgps and the help of a Garmin Support America phone.

Copying the file to the device is impossible.

When you were exporting it as GPX file, were you exporting it as as a GPX Track or a GPX Route?

Only a GPX Track format is supported as an import format on the Edge, I tried that and it worked on my 1040.

How do you update the file? Do you copy directly to the device?

I use GPX Track.

Maybe you reached the limit of 100 course files in /Garmin/Courses?

I coped it directly to the Garmin\NewFiles folder

check if you already have 100 or more files in the Course folder. If so, delete some. Then, copy the GPX file to the NewFiles folder.

I think you find the issue.

I have a lot of files. I started to delete the files and the device started to work again.

Everything is solved.
