Time to next field during ClimbPro

Does anyone know what the Time to Next field means while ClimbPro is popped up? (Or even otherwise, since darned if I know what a 'waypoint' is in a course).

Anyhow, I have that displayed, and when ClimbPro is active it displays a time that is always much longer than the time needed to finish the climb, and sometimes, but not always,

there will be a number superscripted on the top left of the time, e.g. '2'. The time counts down while I'm climbing but never gets close to zero before the climb is over. When ClimbPro goes

away the Time Next field changes to a completely different value, which seems to be some guess as to when the route will be finished. I'm loading routes from Ride with GPS, if that matters.

  • The Time to Next data field is referring to the next navigation point on your course and isn’t associated with the climb. The data fields that are displayed on the Climb Pro screen can be changed by editing that screen in your Activity Profile.

  • Is there documentation anywhere of what a navigation point is? It didn't correspond to the next turn, or anything else specific that I could fine. Also, I know how to change the ClimbPro screen, but what I'm saying is that the value in the Time to Next field changes while ClimbPro is active, to a totally different value. It changes back to what it was after the current climb ends.

  • As far as I know, there isn't a concise definition, but typically it's a point that the course must pass through ie a turn. Sometimes a waypoint is used to describe the same thing, but Edges don't support waypoints as such. If it's changing when the climb pro screen closes, that is another issue.

  • The “Time to ….” Fields are well known to be unreliable and changeable as the “time to” whatever it is “to” continuously changes and recalculates with changes in speed etc, as Peter says the “next” thing can vary as well, not even sure Garmin knows what it is doing or supposed to do especially in the context of climbpro?
