I'm hoping someone from Garmin can chime in here with some good info, or anyone else with some concrete knowledge on the subject. I've searched the forums, with limited concrete info.
I know not everyone uses the DSW, and thus could care less, which is fine. I'm just trying to get back into running/cycling, and was hoping to use the DSWs just as a start to get back to reasonable shape. I've been having the Forerunner 955 for over a year, but just got the 1040 a few weeks ago.
As mentioned numerous times on different forums, the DSWs don't always match. I can understand that due to the difference in parameters recorded. But to me what makes sense is to follow the DSW from the primary wearable (using Garmin's terminology), after the device has synced with Connect to get the latest activity info from the 1040.
With Unified Training Status, multiple Garmin devices share some data. Seems like the DSW should be shared as well. In my simple mind, after an activity with the 1040, it syncs with Connect, which then syncs with primary wearable (FR955 in my case). The FR955 should have priority to create the DSW due to sleep data, any other metrics that could/should affect the DSW, and sync back to the 1040, via Connect.
Worst case, give us a selection to upload the DSW from the FR955 to the Edge 1040, via Connect. Anyone already have a good/easy way to do this?
Come on Garmin, help us out...please chime in.
Thanks!
