LiveTrack does not send email / No Smart Notifcations

In the past Live Track worked (rather) well. My wife feels better if she sees where I am and so I started using Live Track.

Since a couple of weeks now it seems not to work anymore. I can see the message "LiveTrack started" but no email will be sent and I do not get any Smartphone notifications as I did in the past.

  • I did a reset on the 1040 (Version 17.29 since it was rolled out).
  • I reinstalled Garmin Connect on my Smartphone
  • I did everything I could find to make my Unihertz Jelly 2 work (worked in the past though)

Anyone experiencing the same problem and found a solution?

  • I have had to tell several in our club that Garmin Connect needs to be running on your phone during a ride in order for GroupTrack (and LiveTrack) to send and receive data from cell towers with their Garmin Edge devices.  You may need to "Forget" your Garmin Edge in the BlueTooth settings on your phone and pair it again.  You will likely see two different Edge connections in the BT settings.  I suggest you keep both after you pair your Edge.  You must have LIveTrack set up on both the Garmin Connect app on your phone and under Safety & Tracking in the Settings on your Edge.  I have Auto Start turned on in both the app and on my Edge.  I hope this helps.

  • Thank you. First: the two BT connections are not the case anymore with the xx40 series. That was indeed the case with my 830.

    I re-paired it so many times now to no avail. 

    However I found the culprit yesterday: the Unihertz Jelly 2 just does not work properly. I remembered I had an old Samsung S8 in the drawer which I reactivated. This works flawless. I then had contact with Unihertz technical support. They pointed at a few settings I wasn't aware of. I started a LiveTrack on my desk (auto pause off and GPS only will bring some random speed readings that suggested I am riding) after 30-50min the connection broke and LiveTrack was not updated. When the connection broke I also was not able to receive text messaged on the Garmin. Much better than before where it did not even started, but far away from reliable.

    Did the same test with the Samsung S8 and the LiveTrack was updated well after 2h before I stopped the test.

    This is too bad as this small phone was ideal for my rides. But I can live with that.

    If anyone got the Unihertz Jelly 2 working properly with Garmin Connect and LiveTrack I love to hear what settings you changed. Thank you!
