It is interesting that the directions at the top are correct, while the directions on the map are incorrect.
I don't ride where there are many roundabouts, but I created a course with Garmin Connect where I purposely navigated to a roundabout, and then mapped a right turn. The map showed a correct path. Then, I changed to a left turn, and once again, the map showed a correct path. I'll have to actually ride the route to see if the Edge 1040 gives me the correct directions. (I'm in the USA.)
The treatment of round-abouts is one of the reasons I don’t use Garmin turn-guidance. On a recent course I was experimenting with there were 165 items in the “turn list” on a 204km course, 84 of these were related to round-abouts. There were 2 for every roundabout, the first at a varying longer distance (200m) and a second shorter (20m) for the same roundabout. Of these 84 (42 actual roundabouts) there were 52 (26) that were actually no turn, ie continued straight ahead even though the related text might say 1st or 2nd exit. So the silly “turn” guidance is beeping away constantly when the map shows I don’t have to actually do anything, annoying when you are trying to do a relaxing ride, so I just switch off turn guidance.
PS noting the big arrow goes around the wrong way for the first 2 (Greens Rd) which says “1st exit” (assuming incorrect riding on right) even though it is the 2nd (if riding on left) but correct (2nd exit) for the third (Duffy Ave), all the icons in the guide text are correct. If I am using course points instead I can delete all the “straight ahead” type instructions and other pointless ones and end up with less than a third of the notifications
