Garmin 1040 solar tones not working

The tones on my Garmin 1040 stopped working. The tones are pretty important for the radar. Is there someone from Garmin out there to help correct this problem?

hi DanWelchNewCanaan Can you please go to the menu on the edge >system > tones, and make sure they are enabled, then press the lap/reset button. It should make a beep. Do you hear it or nothing at all?

I have the tones turned on, yes

Is pressing the lap button a key part of the process to activate the tones, or is pressing the lap button your method to see if the problem is resolved?

if you have tones enabled, and you click the lap/reset button at any time it should make a beep. So just a way of testing if the tones are working at all or not.

Thank you. Ok, the tones are not working. I also performed a soft reset. What do you suggest for next steps?
