Prompted Updates - no more?

The edge 1000, years ago, would download a new firmware via wifi, standalone, and then PROMPT the user to apply at that moment or later.

This allowed me to backup my .fits and other data from the unit BEFORE the update was applied.

One issue, for example, of not prompting is that Garmin, to this date, won't allow more than 100 activities in the history. Beats me why, but that point aside, if you had say 120 activities, upon firmware update it would keep the 100 OLDER ones, potentially nuking out the 20 newer ones that you might not have backed up yet, or sync'd up to connect, etc.

Is there a setting somewhere that I am missing, to be respectful of our data and still give us a choice of applying or not a downloaded update? beta or release?
