FW 17.29 Error list

In this post, please enter the noticed errors in fw 17.29. Due to their multitude, I am not able to list them all at the moment, so I am asking you to help Garmin developers to finally fix at least one of the bugs and not spoil others.
Error list:
1. Activity not syncing over BT and WiFi.
2. All IQ fields disappear before the activity starts.
3. ...

  • Have you imported your activities from the old Edge or did you set them up from scratch? If the first one applies, delete the activity and set them up new.

Did everything work pre 17.29? If so, contact the CIQ developer to fix issues with their app.

  • I don't remember if I transferred data from my old E1030+ to the new E1040 a year ago. However, in version 17.25beta, activity synchronization was OK, as of fw17.28beta and 17.29 it is not. The IQ data fields in the initial fw versions were OK, the problem started around 15.13 and continues with a few exceptions until 17.29. After starting the activity, all IQ data fields disappear and are left blank. I have to declare their compactness again.

  • In addition to these errors, there are also:
    3. Unexpected device resets.
    4. Map not displaying properly (pic1)
    5. After moving the map and after exiting this function, data fields are not displayed (pic2)

  • Very slow rerouting "Calculating" black popup when going outside of planned route.

    Like 20 seconds+.
It used to be less than 3-4 seconds before!

  • Once the GPS is connected, the IQ fields will disappear.

  • While navigating the course, the device resets and after restarting it does not automatically detect the sensors, you have to connect to each one manually.

  • If I have an active Strava segment it will not save the Climb Pro to Garmin Connect even if edge shows the end of the climb.

  • anyone noticing more battery use than previous versions? today in 1 hour and half ride I’ve got 4% of battery usage.

  • I'm experiencing the following:

    a) Course climbs are out of sync: Climbs on climb pro either start early or late, so the current climb is never correct. The map and position is accurate, it's just the climbs on Climb Pro.

    b) Erroneous turn around alerts: Almost everytime I'm riding a course I'll get a wrong turn around alert. The map and position are accurate (clearly on course).

    c) Climb Pro screens: When I'm on a climb and Climb Pro kicks in, the screen order gets messed up on any activity profile, as the climbing screens are moved around.

    c) Greyed out areas in maps: This happened twice after I first updated the firmware and maps (North America). The map would have greyed out areas where the position vector would move through, but there would be map section displayed (a vector moving through a grey space). This was solved by reinstalling the North America map.

    d) Installation of the new maps for Climb Pro took several attempts

It's frustrating to not being able to have a stable firmware. All my friends with Hammerheads, and online reviews, point to their firmware as being the most bug-free. Garmin, perhaps you should poach a couple of senior developers from Hammerhead, because I truly believe that the Edge 1040 could be the absolute best head unit with these hardware specs, it's just that the software makes it punch way below its weight.
