problem with the waypoint list when navigating 17.29

During my route I lost the list of waypoints, it was empty

always bugs...

  • You got the list as a data screen (Course Points) but it had no entries? The screen only appears If course points are in the loaded course in which case they should display. Did they appear on your map and as a notification at the bottom of the screen as you reach their location?

You said “during” were they visible then not or never visible?

Or do you mean the list of Turn Guidance entries you get when you tap the top of map screen Guide Text, ie "Turn List"?

    Another new bug?

  • the waypoints were visible for part of the route and then the list ended up empty, until the end I could not see the points for drinking.

  • I will try tomorrow (12h), see if mine do the same.

  • Mine worked ok, no issues all course points shown throughout, only a short course, will try again with longer on weekend.

ps. Did you have Turn Guidance enabled as well, I generally don’t .

  • yes I have turned guidance on.
I think the waypoints were erased during a recalculation of the route, it should have worked anyway...
This is very annoying during long outings to supply water.

It's amazing to discover bugs regularly when using this gps.
I don't even count anymore, it gives the impression of sloppy work on the software part by Garmin engineers, and the lack of updates is not reassuring.
When I see the communication from Garmin in France on the new functionality of the climbpro free, by the networks of influencers and major brands such as decathlon.
Garmin should rather concentrate on the work of the software and return this 100% functional gps.
It is unacceptable not to have a successful product after a year of marketing.

  • There are a large and growing number of issues with the 1040 software ( and now 540/840) and many around very basic functionality that worked ok in the x30s and previous devices but not now in the x40, it becomes very frustrating. Many around basic navigation, course following with and without turn guidance, off course processing, sensor connections and other functions that seem to have been broken in the new x40 software development  (why did the need to rewrite them anyway). Many were in the initial released software a year ago but are not even acknowledged or fixed while Garmin seems to concentrate only on new things all with their own issues as well. I have had various Garmin devices for over 10 years , the 1040 has great hardware, I love the screen and battery life but the software is the worst of all the ones I have used, I pack my 530 as backup on long rides now. I could not recommend the 1040 or other x40 devices until these are corrected.

  • I have the same issue, but on version 16.13. (did not dare to upgrade to higher version due to the bad responses here)
What I have seen is that when calculating route, or perhaps starting the navigation, the waypoints are flashing by one by one in the bottom of the screen with a green check mark. My interpretation was that 1040 thought they were "done".

  • That sounds like something else. The Edge does not add a green check mark to course points.
