Battery life decreased since 17.xx

Since the 17.xx firmware I've noticed that the estimated battery life has significantly reduced. I've read that this is only a calculation issue, but what's Garmins gesponse to this? It hasn't been remedied in the latest beta and final, so is there really a calculation issue or has the device a drain somewhere, e.g. ClimbPro outside of courses, so it calculates constantly ascents around you but you don't need them? It's just an assumption, what's your experience?

Kind regards,

Mike

  • I've also seen the massive decrease of the estimated battery life that started with some beta version. In reality, battery life hasn't decreased (much?) for me - at least I haven't noticed it yet. Battery still lasts many tours.

  • Some has reported problem with the calculation, and the battery would last as long as expected. It my case it showed an estimated of 15 hours at 100% change and after 15 hours of riding it dropped to 5%, meaning that the problem was not only calculation.

  • As multiple other threads on this subject have already said, it is just a calculation issue. I’ve done two 6 hour + rides with navigation (and climbpro) and the battery level has just about dropped 20% each time.

Anyone seeing big drops has probably still got the backlight on which is the number major battery drain and totally unnecessary unless riding in the dark.
