Edge 1040 Solar - phone connectivity issues

My Edge 1040 Solar has been talking quite happily to my phone (OnePlus Nord) for quite a while now.

But a few days ago, that stopped - I now can't sync from either GC on the phone, or from the Phone sync menu on the Edge.

I've tried all the usual things (turning everything off and on again, unpairing, repairing, turning around 3 times on the spot, facing true North) - and the issue persists.

The phone still talks quite happily to my Fenix 5X - and all my other bluetooth devices - the only issue seems to be around the Edge 1040.

Again, I've:

- turned both devices off and on multiple times

- turned bluetooth off and on on my phone multiple times.

- unpaired, then repaired multiple times.

The only think I haven't done yet is an actual sacrifice to whoever one sacrifices to in order to get a Garmin device to work as advertised.

Of course, this would happen a few days before my first 100 mile ride.

Is there any way to get Garmin's flagship bike computer to pair reliably, or should I go and get myself a Wahoo?
