Have a few things I’d like to see on my 1040, here’s a list of them:
climbpro is a brilliant feature but could be improved. I’d like to see
1. a climbs database, so the climbs are named like we have for ski resorts and golf clubs (apparently, not used them). Should talk to Simon Warren who writes the 100 climbs books. that would be the next logical step after free ride climbpro and would move Garmin well ahead of the opposition.
2. Larger text on the climbs summary. It doesn’t use the whole width of the screen and is way too small, there’s room to increase it.
3. The ability to click on the climb and switch between the zoomed view and the whole climb so you can more easily see where you are.
4. consolidate the standard map and free ride climbpro maps to reduce the space used on the device. I suspect there’s a lot of duplication between the maps and consolidating would save a lot of space. Hoping this is already under way as the new 540 can’t even fit all of Europe on the device which isn’t great
other misc stuff:
screenshots should be synced to device photos with a GPS tag of where they were taken so I dont have to connect the device to my PC
the elevation screen needs an additional zoom of remaining elevation to go, along with the zoom to the whole route.
12 speed di2 battery level needs more than 3 bars. The percentage figure would be better, or at least show us 5 or more bars. A few times recently I’ve got low battery warnings on long rides when I’ve started the ride with 2 out of 3 bars, more granularity would be great
we need more categories for sounds, all on/off with radar as a separate option isn’t granular enough, with sounds on the device is beeping constantly, being more selective would be great
can we get rid of the “radar disconnected” alert, and just turn the radar icon in the top right red, maybe with a 3 second message or something?
When providing updates on lactate threshold, ftp etc, please show the old value so I know if I’m getting better or not
give us instant grade using the gyro, I know there’s work to improve grade display, let’s hope it’s this
add the gyro to the connectiq API, it was there in a beta then was removed, there seems to be some availability but not sure it’s fully functional
