Strava segments

des que je commence un parcour impossible de charger les segments strava  le smartphone étant bien connecte

  • Some caveats to my prior reply, learned on a test ride today in which I had both the 1040 and my older 1030 (not the plus) mounted on my handlebars:

    1. I created a course in Strava, checked that it had my segments in it, and followed it. No segments or pop-ups on either device. In addition, the Segment Explorer widget, having been populated previously, had all the segments disappear -- as you and others have reported. Segment Explorer widget fully works on the 1030.

    2.  I stopped the course and also turned off Climb Pro. Segments appeared just fine and popped up.

    3.  Turned back on Climb Pro (but without the popup notice). Segments still worked, and I'm shown both are about to start and get to choose my screen.

    FWIW, the gradient lag of the 1040 is painfully obvious when watching it next to the 1030...

  • For 1, I am using Strava to create courses and add fav of on-course segments, and those are well synced to my 1040 every time. *** I even double check if the segments are synced from live segment menu and map on my garmin. But when cycling using 1040 to follow these courses, every time no segments pop up, not the ones on the courses or at any other places. I tested if I can get segment popup when free roaming, and it did, the incoming segment poped up. So I confirm using course disables segments from Strava, but I don't think it should be like this, especially after finding your reply. Any idea why this happens?

  • This is helpful. I keep the Climb Pro on and never turn it off, so guess course nav can't be on together with segment... And of course Power Guide since it relies on pre-edited course...

  • Wait, are we saying that strava segments only work when:

    1. there is no preloaded route or power guide;
    2. climb pro is off;
    3. there is a preloaded strava route?

    How's possible that garmin did not check that before launching these new features?

  • Strava segments will work with a course and with power guide if the course was created in Strava and synced with Garmin Connect.

    With power guide, if you are on the power guide when a segment starts then you will stay on the power guide page. The segment page will get loaded, but the unit will not switch to it. Power Guidance is considered a higher priority.

    ClimbPro and segments will work both with a course and free riding. There is a bug that can leave an approach page up if the climb and segment start are close together, but they then go in different directions. A tap of the screen will clear that page.

  • I'm sure this is a basic thing for most, but it took me 2 weeks to figure out that you have to manually star all of the segments within Strava to favorite them in order for them to appear on the Garmin...

    The limit is 100 segments, so I was easily able to star every segment on every trail I ride with plenty of room to spare. Now the segments pop up on my 1040 as they should. 2 weeks of sheer frustration determining this was the reason segments weren't appearing for me...

  • This has always been the way to go. I think it's a good choice. When I go for a 100 km ride I don't have to see every segment. I just pick segments that I would like to improve on.
    The downside of this choice is that you don't see where the segments are when you are in a new area.

  • there's also an option to show popular segments or something like that, which i assume would appear on any new trails you'd ride. not sure if those would show without starring anything, but the popular segments on my trails i've already starred, so i can't tell. either way, i'm just really glad i figured it out

  • Folks, the segments don't show up.

    Yesterday again, none of my segments showed up, none!

    No course active, climbpro active, beta enrolled and less than 100 segments starred.

    I tried them all, unpairing the phone, full clean up, and reinstalling the SO.

    I'm sure I'm not the only one.

  • A very useful thread as I had my first ride with my new Edge 1040 last Sunday.

    I use RideWithGPS to plot the route and then sync'd it wirelessly to the Edge.  ClimbPro worked on the route/course but no Strava segments, despite having my accounts linked and a number of starred Strava segements (which show up in Garmin Connect).

    Is it possible to see if those segments are on the Edge 1040?  Segments are enabled in the Road ride profile type, and Segment is set to "When Segment Active" on Data Screens for the profile.
