Loaded course times out if you don't start riding?

I need to confirm some Garmin behavior. It seems as if I load a route on the 1040 many minutes before I ride, the route is not followed. It's like there is a timeout that says if you don't start riding this course in X number of minutes, the 1040 won't follow it by pressing ride. Am I missing something?

All the people I ride with have the same problem (all different Garmin models). I do not have an answer other than "it does time out". Anyone have a different answer other than turn it on closer to the ride start time?

Just pick the course again from the nav menu?

Have that list sorted by most recent to make it as easy as possible, especially if you have a lot of courses.
