Bikepacking race Missing middle but elevation seem right?

Is there a way to fix the file? This weekend I did a bikepacking race 270 miles. It seem like from about mile 95 to mile 180 didn’t record but elevation is right. No segments for 85miles just flat line. See my Strava https://strava.app.link/yIYCTyYVlzb it was on and watch the purple line.

thanks

  • What a great ride !

From looking at the Strava activity it looks like you pressed stop at km 155 and first hit start again at km  293. (thus making the straight line between those 2 points)

Or you where below the autopause speed for same period.....

It seems you lost contact with the power meter, and it never connected agian .

  • Yes I turned off the power meter because I was having battery problems with the 1040. Thought it may help to save battery life. I never turn the Garmin off on my backing races. Auto pause is disabled because I also like to see my stop time so it runs nonstop. Yes that is what it looks like but I didn’t and the Garmin was still showIng speed and location. My mileage is right for route and the elevation is correct. Very strange

  • Strange, maybee someone can analyze your fit file and find something there.

Just one last note, it does show speed & location, even if start isn't pressed.

Try comparing your effort with this https://www.strava.com/activities/8946484881   Note the elapsed time & moving time data for both rides.

  • What type of power meter were using?

  • Was using a sram quard but this doesn’t have anything to do with my problem. Just tried turning it off to save battery life. Don’t usually turn it of on these multiple day 48+ hour rides but battery was at weird so just wanted to ultimate it.

  • If it had been a PowerTap hub based power meter then it might as the Edge would have taken speed from that.
