Lost of navigation and unit switched off. Would not follow navigation once restarted. Also did not log distance correctly. Very scary in unfamiliar wood at night. I am not no happy to use th e 1040 for navigation. Anyone else had this issue?

Unit has cut out during navigation and lost all data fro the ride only to power up again later.

This has happened four times at least now since purchase of the unit.

  • I would suggest contacting Garmin support and provide them with the unit ID. They maybe able to pull error logs off the unit.

  • I have spoken with them without much success,  I have been told to complete again of the  navigation rides .

    They said to do this:-

Sending a Garmin Folder From a Device to Product Support

    1. Start an activity on your Edge.
    2. Tap the screen. This will open a grey overlay page.
    3. Press and hold the right arrow at the bottom of the overlay page for 5 seconds.
    4. Select Fitness Logging.
    5. Select ANT Logging.
    6. Select ANT RX TX.
    7. ANT Logging is now enabled and ready for the next ride.
    8. Press the START/STOP key to stop and discard the activity.
    9. Start a new Activity with the same sensors and phone connected.
    10. Save the activity when you are done.

Anyone else had to do this?

  • I don't think the sensor connectivity is really behind this issue. It sounds more like route computation problem.

Is there any err_log.Txt in the Garmin\Debug folder?
