Data Screen Migration 830 to 1040

Hi all,

I've been using the Edge 830 for several years now and am about to move to the 1040 for the larger screen (eyes getting older). Can I migrate the data screen layouts I have setup in the 830 over to the 1040, or do I have to start all over (yet again) and rebuild them from scratch?

As far as I know - it‘s not possible to migrate screens from different devices.

But maybe you can use one of the already made IQ screens instead of building your own:

That should be offered to you as part of the new set-up process on the 1040/840/540. If you follow the initial set-up and pair with a phone then one of steps is it offers you list of devices that you currently have to select one to import the screens from.

Thank you. So do I have to pair with my phone before syncing it to my laptop for this migration to work? It's important to me to get these screens ported over correctly-I've manually set them up too many times when switching to new Garmin devices in the past-really looking forward to this being a better switch.

Yes you should pair the the Edge with the phone first when it starts up and goes through the initial set-up. I think DC Rainmaker shows this in his 840 review.
