Hi,
Why the 1040 Solar Series hasn't updated the Climb Pro feature as the 840?
Thankyou.
Kind regards.

Yep, first change note in the announcement.

Is it safe to assume this will work on mountain bike trails (Trailforks map)? I just ran the beta update and the release notes state to re-download the larger maps, but this didn't include Trailforks (that can't be uninstalled). So it depends on weather this goes based off the elevation data map, or if it's somehow tied only to roads / streets.
I think it is to early to tell for sure. In my area I can be assured that all MTB trails are two short/variable to meet the ClimbPro criteria. If Trailforks map is included it will probably not apply until the next update. Since this feature is supposed to be tied to the popularity map, which is included in the various cycling maps, it should be able to know about the MTB trails also. But that is just speculation on my part. Since this is day 1, lots of time to check it out.
It is designed to work off road as well. The Climbing data is held in additional files separate from the map data and will work the current Trailforks maps.
The climb maps are placed in the Garmin\SQL\Internal folder
To get them on the 1040 you will need to use the map manager in Garmin Express to uninstall and then re-install the maps for the region you want.
I can confirm re-installing the maps is required for the new features to work. Before updating the maps, the climb explorer did not give any menu options to customize the search criteria. After the maps were updated, I could. Found out I live in a very flat area. My closest "climb" is over 20 miles away, and only if I set the minimum classification to uncategorized.

Including MTB.
