High Traffic Roads everywhere!

Has anybody in the UK (and further afield) noticed a huge increase in the number of roads classed as ‘high traffic roads’? I know it's getting busier but...

Prior to the 2022.11 map update it was only the roads you would really avoid that were classed as HTRs - motorways, dual carriageways and really busy trunk roads. Now it seems that I can hardly leave my house without straying on to a HTR. If I set the navigation criteria to avoid HTRs, the route suggestions are ridiculous. A new feature that was introduced with the Explore 2 and then made available on the 1040 that I found useful sometimes is now useless and I have it switched off.

Does anyone know where the HTR data comes from and why it has changed so drastically?

  • Yes, as soon as you cross a farmers road with almost no traffic it is a high traffic road

Central London should have high traffic and also M25 and all M and A roads, but not out in the bush and I am cycling on roads in the Surrey hills that are high traffic roads according to my E1040 but in reality is one car every 1-5 minutes. That is not high traffic roads.

  • Yes. I live in rural west Wales and I get HTR alerts and then won't see a car for miles.
