I have a 1040.
I plot a route and when I follow it I am given a banner on top of the map telling me when the next turn point is, which way to go and the name of the road coming up.
Excellent. I use it a lot and don't want to lose it.
Now, for some unexplained reason, when I have passed that turn point I get a message at the bottom of my screen telling me which way I have just turned and what road I am now on. Totally pointless info - I was there at the time, I made the turn and I'm more interested in the next turn. This can be a real PIA if I am making a series of quick tuns because it interferes with the map display.
I've looked at the manual and - as usual - it is about as much use as a chocolate teapot. The presumtion must be that some upgrade has "improved" the display and the only way to remove it is by some hidden screen that Garmin CBA telling us about.
Has anyone else discovered this improvement and if so have you worked out how to remove the banner at the bottom of the screen, whilst leaving the top banner intact?
