does garmin edge 1040 automatically create a gpx file when recording a ride?

My old Garmin Edge 800 creates a gpx file in trk folder when I record a ride. If there is something wrong(such as a straight line appears in the fit file), I can use the gpx file, because the gpx file will never be interrupted accidently.

But I can't find any gpx in Garmin Edge 1040 folders. Does anyone know whether Edge1040 produces a gpx file when recording a ride? thanks
