Has anyone found out how to correct resting heart rate?

I have adjusted this in settings as I get this info from my AWU that I wear all of the time. My 1040 shows my resting heart rate over 50bpms higher than my AWU. My fitness age is greatly impacted by this.
Do I wear my Garmin heart rate strap 24 hrs per day with the 1040 powered On to get a more accurate reading?

  • I have the same problem with my Garmin 840 and AWU.I was told by Garmin support that Garmin only takes the RHR from a Garmin watch. :(

  • I know that if you don't have a Garmin smart watch, you don't want to feel you have to buy one to get a semi-accurate Fitness Age, but the Venu Sq range has been updated to Venu Sq 2, and the old generation is on sale - $80 off on the base model, and $100 off on the music version.  This would let you get "in" for $119.95, sort of like an accessory for your Edge computer.  And think how cool you will look, wearing two smart watches all the time!

Actually, I notice that my sister, who has an Apple watch, has it charging every night, so she couldn't get an accurate resting heart rate.  My Venu Sq battery lasts 6 - 7 days, and requires only an hour to charge, so I do wear mine 24 hours a day, except when riding or showering, and those exceptions give me windows to recharge the battery when necessary.  On the other hand, you can just decide to ignore Fitness Age at a savings of $120.
