BUG FW 16.13: Fixed bug causing sensors to sometimes fail to connect automatically NOT SOLVED

Sorry, this bug is not solved, 2 rides with this Firmware and a lot of sensor dropouts with my Tacx Neo Bike all the time, look on all the short interuptions on Speed, cadence and Power:

on Edge 1040 himself i get very often a message/Popup that Speed/Cadence Sensor is connected during ride like this:

  • Tacx NEO bike or trainer have always suffered from frequent disconnections or signal drops :(

I can assure you. The bug introduced by the last version regards the missing sensor connection after a standby or pause of the device, not during the activity.

What you are reporting, I'm sure, it is true, like for me in these years, sometimes also during critical moment in Zwift race, but it is not related to the bug you are mentioning.

  • I can observe from time to time connection drop from my Tacx Neo 2t but nothing like you have here.

Here I have one drop https://connect.garmin.com/modern/activity/10605696931

    But here none, i think

    https://connect.garmin.com/modern/activity/10648752773

    https://connect.garmin.com/modern/activity/10618916117

But definitely it has no relation to that sensor fix in latest firmware. That's what dahs  mentioned above

  • Same Here :-( third update in a row wich doesnt work with sensors

  • not for me, it came during the last phase of the 16.x Betas and now withj productive release, my Tacx Neo Bike was totally stable before

  • I've been using my 1040 Solar nearly daily since October 2022; I don't recall when it updated to v16.13, but starting April 10, 2023 my sensors are all getting dropped. All sensors. Including Varia, Ticker, Quarq, Garmin speed sensor. I have been able to power down and restart the 1040 to get sensors to connect, however, this sucks and not always an option. Losing connection with the Varia is VERY UPSETTING! This bug is very frustrating and there's no rhyme or reason the the 1040 dropping the sensors and no clear path to get the sensors back.

  • yup I have the exact same issue with v16.13. Garmin support asked me to enable ANT+ logging and save the activity when it happens.

  • on previous fw i had sporadic issues when re-connecting to sensors
    With new 16.13 - i have noticed 2 issues :

    1) Sensors lag. Was riding early morning - and cadence sensor was dropping values all over the place and then speed got crazy.
After 1 minute it got back to normal. i had that twice during a ride.

    2) Elevation was not automatically corrected on 16.13 and when started i got -74m  , and by time i got to end of ride ended up on -20m (negative)
on previous fw it was correcting elevation automatically before i hit start.

  • Yesterday, I went on three rides with two different bikes, I continued to have issues with all sensors dropping. The last ride, I looked at Garmin Connect to see that some of the power, cadence, heart rate info recorded, but did not show on my Edge 1040 Solar.

I did a factory reset late yesterday, kinda hate doing this, but Garmin has made it less painful with Garmin Connect remembering your settings and sensors. So far, the only thing I tested was my Varia, it worked for the first time all day. I'll get out for a ride later today and will post an update.

  • I did a factory reset on my Edge 1040 Solar late yesterday and everything looks like it's happy again. I rode the gravel bike today with my Varia, Tickr, and Rally pedals, all worked fine. It appears factory reset fixed this issue. The only (minor) issue for me was needing to reload my favorite Garmin IQ data field (WindFields), easy enough to get it back ... but the data screen migration didn't bring it over with all the other data fields.

I'll test the road bike tomorrow to see that the Quarq and speed sensor are happy too.
