After update, the Portuguese language disappeared from the Garmin Edge 1040.

If you plug the Edge in Express > select the Edge 1040 in Express > tools and content > Optional updates , Do you see any Language files available?

Can you please try removing the device from express and re-adding it? Adding and Removing Devices in Garmin Express
