It seems to me that the Edge 1040 Solar requires brand new batteries in my Stages Power R8000 Dual Sided power meter to maintain a robust connection. On any long ride, I ride with 2 Garmin Edge GPSs. For about the last year, that's been a Garmin Edge 1030 Plus and 1040 Solar. I've noticed that, generally, the 1040 Solar reports about half the value of the 1030 Plus and believe the 1030 Plus is the more accurate of the 2. I finally decided to delve into the matter with the aid of DC Rainmaker's Analyzer and concluded what I said in the first sentence. e.g. I know I started last year's TCR with fresh batteries in the power meter and the 2 devices were in close agreement on day 1. The next day, the readings diverged and the 1040 Solar no longer reported left/right power. Only left virtual power(?). All that said, it does strike me as odd that this behavior change seemed to occur overnight.
