This is a Recap of the current Garmin 1040 issues that I am experiencing (my unit is non-solar).
There are several posts on the forum about these issues where the problems details can be seen (From what I have seen, most issues are common among Solar and Non-Solar devices).
- Unstable Varia connection: The radar connects and disconnects throughout a ride constantly.
- Unstable Routing: Routing does not function at all some days, and then it fixes itself without any intervention.
- Unstable battery drainage: Sometimes the battery will last a long time, and sometimes it will be drained very quickly (with the same sensors, GPS mode and usage time).
- Unstable Bluetooth Sync: It does not sync over bluetooth all the time. Manual intervention needed when it does not.
- Gradient lag: The gradient indicator shows the current gradient value way past it has been ridden, therefore showing a value that does not correspond to the present.
- Wrong return screen: When screens like ClimbPro becomes active, once it finishes, the screen that the device returns to is different from the screen the device was.
- Unexpected restart: It happens that the device will restart itself eventually while riding.
- Device turns on when plugged in for charging. This is a minor issue but if it was turned off it should stay that way.
I will eventually update this list adding new issues or marking points as resolved as it evolves.
