Reset - what do I lose?

Having a growing number of issues with my 1040, obvious next step is to try resetting it.

But what do I lose? What is NOT automatically restored from my Connect account and/or can be manually setup again?

For example, activities and courses etc are all in my account. The activity profiles and their data pages can either be backed up or setup manually again. Sensors nowadays sometimes seem to sync on device setup, or can be repaired easily enough.

But what about physiological data, specifically the devices "learnings" related to its newer stamina / potential / rider type analysis features? Are these stored in my account too, so it'll pick up where it left off, or will it be back to square one with no background data?

Thanks.

  • I don't recomend you to import backed profiles after reset. Importing profiles is responsible for a number of bugs, at least that is how it has been for me.

  • Agreed, I normally take a photo (!) of each screen and rebuild them manually.. my point was rather I at least know how I can carry these over if I wished (like a half-reset if being lazy).. whereas I'm not sure how/where some of the other stuff is held - on device ONLY or sync'd?

  • It's already some weeks ago but what I remember is that only a few configurations had to be done again. All the stuff for the initial setup (language, network, screen brightness...). And I had to send all the routes again to the device. The rest, including the configured profiles and pages, appeared again after syncing with Garmin Connect. Regarding the analysis stuff I did not observe any losses but I have a Fenix 7 in parallel. My impression is that all the devices are more or less intelligent sensors while Garmin Connect is the database.
