Elapsed Time data field - tiny hours

When using a half-width data field for "Elapsed Time", rolling beyond 59 minutes and 59 seconds (59:59) prefixes the time with a tiny hour number - almost impossible to read.

Where-as the "Timer" data field, using the same example. postfixes smaller seconds after the full-sized hours and minutes (the layout of the digits change as it rolls past 59:59 to 1:00:00). The clearly makes much more sense: once hours are involved, seconds become less relevant in the majority of cases.

So why is logic followed for one and not the other?! Currently the Elapsed Time is practically unusable for rides over multiple house if set to half-width.
