My Edge 1040 screen goes blank for a second every 4-8 seconds whilst riding. When I end the ride I save the ride and just while it confirms your calorie and water intake it goes blank. When you are not riding everything works ok.

I would contact Garmin support on this.

Same issue here and very often when you don’t follow the course. Sometimes it helps to slide down the screen. They often forget to refresh the screen
