I've noticed that during a ride, my Edge 1040 Solar will display very large ride time gained via solar values despite not having very much intensity. E.g. while recording, 35 minutes have elapsed and my edge will say it has gained ~30 minutes of ride time gained despite hovering between 0 and 6% solar intensity. Obviously it is not actually charging that fast through solar power, as evidenced by battery percentage drops and garmin connect's online summary indicating <1 min ride time gained.
I've only gone on two outdoor rides with my device so far, and it's been in cool and cloudy conditions both times (one near 0 °C and another near 7 °C). For both rides, the device started a bit warmer having come from indoors and eventually settled to the ambient outdoor temperature. Could the decrease in temperature have caused the incorrect battery gained estimate? Or is this a defect of some sort?
