1040 Randomly starting new lap

My edge 1040 randomly starts new laps. Auto lap is disabled, often it is after a short stop - but it happened also while just riding. Happens every 1-4 hours - it's really annoying. My 1040 is mounted on a race bike mount - so no possibility that the lap button is touched by accident.

Also I think I may be blind - but there seems to be no single timer field with moving time since beginning of ride, and total time since beginning of ride. Those fields only exists for laps.

Has my 1040 some hardware defect so it randomly starts laps?

For the time data field issue try Timer and Elapsed time.

I have the timer issue as well. At some random point in time it resets itself and is very annoying. This never occurred with any of my previous Edge (705, 1000, 1030) devices.

I have to check - maybe I just got confused by the way the timer field is working - and mistook the small number as lap instead of as hour. Will have to ride again (will do so tomorrow for a long ride).

Well actually I think I got confused by the time layout - while hiking I definitely had some unwanted laps with the 1040 in my pocket - the button is a little bit too easy going for that - however while riding it's okay. I must have gotten confused by the format.

Thx. I went ahead and changed it to elapsed time. I wasn't aware of that feature. We'll see how it works out on the next ride! :)
