Accidentally deleted a course

I accidentaly have deteled a course.

I was expecting the classic second message confirming deletion but it didnt appear. I was outside and had to cancel the ride. I also looked for a recycle bin with no succes.

I have only been an 1040 owner for 2 days and maybe I don't know all its features but I miss those two or maybe I did something wrong.

  • Sounds like you deleted an activity.  A ride is an activity.  A course is a pre-planned route that the device can navigate.  IDK if an activity can be recovered after deleting it.  Somebody else may be able to amplify on this.

  • It was going to be my first 1040 activity but It actually was a course made in basecamp and usb uploaded to Garmin/New files. I couldn't sync with Garmin Connect to recover it.

  • If the data has been saved on the edge, their could be a possibility if you connect the edge via USB to a PC and use a file recovery tool on windows/mac. If this is an option I would suggest that you get yourself familiar with the structure of the edge file system first.
If the data hasn‘t been saved I don’t see any possibilities.
    Good luck

    Addendum
Your new entry overlapped with my response. If you have the data still in Basecamp,  its certainly easier and safer to retransmit the file

  • I know, but I was outside, far away from any computer and maybe someday without data coverage to sync with GC (in case the course is stored in GC)

The problem is not the course itself, its safe at home, the problem is if you delete a course in 1040 and you are in the mountain with no chance to recover it

it is my first touch screen device, with my edge 520 it was more difficult to cause unintentional accidents.
