Whenever I end a ride my 1040 goes nuts with sensor disconnect errors - why?

Every time I go to end a ride, my 1040 starts pooping out message after message that my radar is disconnected, my power meter is disconnected, error this and error that. It's kind of annoying when I'm just trying to save the ride and power down.

Any way around this?

  • If you are taking the edge off the bike before pressing the save button this could cause the issue. In this case, just save your ride while the edge is still on the bike (and near the sensors).

  • No this is right at the end of a ride when the edge is still on there and connected.

  • Aside from a device specific problem the only other ideas I have is that something (it could be yourself being too close to the edge) is blocking the radio connection or the devices are close to metal surfaces causing many radio reflections. I never experienced the issue with the newer firmware and ant+ connected sensors.

  • What's the sequence, when do the messages appear?

    Stop moving
Press activity start / Stop button
    Press Save
Press upper right tick mark (summary screen)

Is it always in the same location (home?) or different locations? Does it only happen at the end of ride?

  • Stop moving

    Press Stop hard button

    Tap end ride (finish flag)

    tap save

    tap check mark

…this is about when it starts with the errors until I tap the final “today” check mark to return it to home

  • I am not sure what the function of the screen with the big red (stop?) square & Red "finish flag" is but on my 1040 (standard) it only displays for a few seconds and goes to the save/discard screen without other input from me. Perhaps try just letting it go to the save screen without touching the flag to see if that changes the behaviour. otherwise currently "no idea", but I will sleep on it.

ps, always same location or different locations, always at end or other times?

ps2, are you following a loaded course, navigating to a location or just free riding ?
