Used my Garmin Edge 1040 on a hilly ride today with course route to follow , when climbpro activated my position was about 50 feet in front if not more . Done this on all my climbs, any advice would be appreciated.

I create my routes on Garmin Connect. Others use Strava, or Komoot, or MapMyRide, or RideWithGPS. I've heard of other route generating web sites, but I haven't used them.
Maybe I'll try generating a route on four or five different sites, and try to see what differences can be seen.
There is a very long (35 Pages) discussion here regarding gradient lag and related issues on the climbpro screen including position on the climb page but the end conclusion is that the current beta version 15.17 has fixed these problems to most peoples satisfaction, so maybe your too?
