Direct Routing.

I recently bought the EDGE 1040 SOLAR and I am looking for the option of
Direct Routing.
Is there such an option?

The OREGON 700 (In my opinion, Garmin's best GPS) has this option, which helps me with navigation.

Direct Routing: Straight line from the current position to the destination. Independent from trails, streets etc. (Over hill and dale.)

Very helpful to navigate to the destination in cases without a track.

Yes, the 1040 has several settings for navigation routing. Separate settings for each 'activity profile'. So for road biking you can ask for paved only on popular routes, for mountain biking allow unpaved and trails, for kayaking straight lines.

It supports it under Routing Mode, but I think there is currently a bug in the straight line navigation that I'm told is fixed in the next release.
