Today I knew I was going to go for a number of starred segments and decided to use my Karoo 2 instead of the 1040. I love the 1040 but the Karoo openly kills the Garmin UX for seeing live segments. For starters they just work - you get them whether on or off a course and can easily toggle between a compressed or expanded view along with navigation. It's a choice you get to make rather than the device choosing to suppress segments. The visual is also MUCH easier to read and you can see yourself, the KOM and a PR as well as the upcoming elevation, time needed and if you expand the next few places on a leaderboard. I personally find the Garmin visual to be pretty average compared to this ... but most importantly having it show up is pretty random in my experience only showing sometimes when not riding a course and almost never when on a course. This has to change.
